Grants for Research and Development help business start-ups and Small or Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) to carry out research and development work on technologically innovative products and processes.
SEEDA, the South East of England Development Agency, is responsible for delivering the grant in the South East.
There are four types of projects that qualify for the research and development grant:
Exceptional Projects:
new exceptionally innovative product or process which is strategically important to the industrial/technology sector.
Development Projects:
development of a pre-production prototype with significant technological advance of a new product or process
Research Projects:
critical investigation of new technology, novel products or processes in an innovative sector
Micro Projects:
development of a low-cost prototype for an innovative product or process
Eligibility
• You must be a SME, which includes individuals and sole traders
• Your project must carry out research or development work on a technologically innovative product or process at the pre-production stage, excluding natural product improvements, enhancements, extension or developments of existing known products.
Also
• Grants are discretionary.
• Projects are assessed on an individual basis against the appraisal criteria.
• SEEDA accept Grant applications for Research and Development all year round.
