Street Collection Licences

Anyone who intends to either collect money or sell articles for the benefit of charitable or other purposes in any street or public place requires a street collection permit from AVDC.

A street includes any highway or public bridge, road lane, footway, square, court, alley, or passage, whether a thoroughfare or not. Public place includes any area which the public have access.

Applying for a Street Collection Licence
Prior to making an application you will need to check availability of the date/s you require with us.

Once the collection is submitted you are required to submit a form of statement detailing the collection.

Important information
It is essential that the promoter of the collection is fully aware of the requirements of the regulation under the Police, Factories, etc. (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1916. Non compliance is an offence.

In particular the promotor has to apply to a Government Department to obtain badges for collectors, authorise collectors and ensure the necessary statements, in the prescribed form, are returned within one month of the collection. These forms are supplied with the licence.

What if I don't hear from AVDC within the specified time?
You will be able to act as though your application is granted if you have not heard from AVDC within 14 calendar days of submitting your request.

Fees
There is no fee charged for applications for street collections or house-to-house collections.
