Personal Licence

Under the Licensing Act 2003 any outlet that sells alcohol has to have a Designated Premises Supervisor who must be a Personal Licence holder.  A new applicant for a Personal Licence will need to complete a standard form.

Applicants for a personal licence need to obtain an accredited qualification first.  The aim of the qualification is to ensure that licence holders are aware of licensing law and the wider social responsibilities attached to the sale of alcohol.  Details of the required qualification can be found in the application pack.

You need to provide two passport style photographs of yourself.  Details of the requirements can be found in the application pack.

A basic Criminal Records Bureau check is required this can be done through ‘Disclosure Scotland’.  Details of which can be found in the application pack.

The fee for a personal licence is £37.00 and the licence is valid for ten years.

If no representations are lodged, generally the licensing authority has no discretion but to issue the licence.  If a representation is received then the determination of the licence will be put before a licensing sub-committee.
