Be Nightsafe.....
Young people are entitled to a good night out, but it should be safe too. The Community Safety Partnership are working to make young people more aware of alcohol and drugs and their affects on behaviour and personal safety. Aylesbury and Buckingham are both relatively quiet at the weekend compared to many city centres but people can still run into trouble.
When out with friends having a good time, it’s easy to forget the dangers around you. People can do silly things while drunk, like fighting, having unprotected sex or just wandering around in the middle of the road. A hangover the next day can sometimes be the least of your worries.
That’s why a team of ‘Nightsafe’ workers will be on hand in Aylesbury and Buckingham giving out friendly advice and information packs to young people. The Nightsafe events will take place on weekends in both locations and at specific times of the year when we traditionally see an increase in crime.
For more information on these events, or personal safety, call the Community Safety team at AVDC on 01296 585615 or visit drinkaware.co.uk
Top tips for a safe night out:
• Eat something substantial before you start drinking
• Know your limits – make every second drink a soft one
• Don’t leave your drink unattended
• Stay with your friends, don’t walk home alone
• Know how you’re getting home, pre book a taxi in advance
