Neighbourhood policing

Policing to deal with your local issues

The neighbourhood policing approach allows police, partner agencies and the public to work closely together to solve crime and disorder problems, as well as improving conditions across the neighbourhood, and feelings of security.

It aims to:

Encourage better communication between police, partner agencies and the communities they serve.

  • Increase reassurance.
  • Reduce the disproportionate fear of crime.

Neighbourhood policing in Aylesbury Vale has been divided into two parts – Aylesbury town and Aylesbury rural, which includes Buckingham, Waddesdon, Wendover, Wing and the surrounding villages. This simply means all neighbourhoods in the town centre and looked after by one team and all neighbourhoods in the rural areas are looked after by another team. This is due to the fact that town centre and rural residents have different needs and expectations.

Aylesbury Vale is home to 18 neighbourhoods, 10 in Aylesbury town and eight in Aylesbury rural.

Within neighbourhood policing there are neighbourhood action groups (NAGs). They are made up of local stakeholders such as residents, business owners, councillors and the police. NAGs are a way for people in the community to address and solve local crime and disorder issues. For more information on NAGs follow the link to the left hand side.
