Working towards better broadband

It is estimated that there are around 30,000 homes and businesses in the Vale using broadband with speeds below 2MB a second. Some areas have no broadband at all.

Bucks Business First (BBF) hopes to secure government funding of around £2 million to improve broadband services in the county. They hope to provide sueprfast broadband to around 90% of homes   and businesses, and for other areas to have at least 2MB a second at least. This will be provided by a mix of wireless and fibre optic technology over the next four years.

A pilot project in Wingrave, Slapton and Mentmore has supplied broadband to homes and businesses in the area using wireless technology. This method may prove suitable for other communities as well.

Meanwhile BBF is working with BT to accelerate their superfast broadband provision. Buckingham is just one of the communities that will soon benefit from this investment.
