Emergency planning

AVDC is required by law to prepare and maintain an emergency plan covering major incidents like flooding, flu pandemics and transport accidents.

As well as supporting the emergency services during a major incident, we must also be able to maintain our critical services when we’re prevented from using one of our office buildings (eg fire or flood) or when many officers aren’t available for work (eg snow or flu). This is known as business continuity.

Read our emergency plan and business continuity plan.

We work closely with our neighbouring local authorities and emergency services through the Thames Valley Local Resilience Forum. A key document used to prepare our emergency plan is the Thames Valley Local Resilience Forum Community Risk Register.
