Recommended Village Pubs

The Unicorn, Cublington
Nothing sums up the spirit of Aylesbury Vale quite as well as the cosy country pub, of which thankfully there are many.
2013 Competition
That time has come round again to nominate your favourite pub for an award. The competition aims to showcase the number of quality pubs in Aylesbury Vale. Whether your local is large or small, traditional or trendy, it makes no difference; we are looking for variety, so if your lcaol doesn't possess an enormous beer garden or serve food around the clock, don't worry it could still be a winner.
To nominate fill the online form at the bottom of this page.
Closing date for nominations - 17 May 2013.
Join our Judging Panel
We are also looking for residents of Aylesbury Vale to join this year's judging panel. If you are intrested in volunteering please email: lesiureservices@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk stating in less than 40 words why you would be a valued addition to the panel. This can also be done at the end of this form.
2012 Competition
The Unicorn in Cublington has been crowned as this year's overall winner in Aylesbury Vale District Council’s Village Pub of the Year awards.
The annual competition, set up in memory of ex district councillor Ted Payne, marks the important role a village pub plays in the local community, particularly where there are few other meeting places in the village, such as a shop or post office.
With more than 750 public nominations for over 30 pubs across the district, the judging panel had the difficult task of picking winners in the four different categories. The pubs were judged on a number of criteria including their overall character, friendliness of staff, quality of food and drink, community spirit and family facilities.
All finalists are featured in the 2012 Aylesbury Vale Recommended Village Pubs guide, which is available to download at the bottom of this page and from tourist information centres and other outlets across the Vale.
The Village Pub competition is sponsored by Dayla.
