Mobile phones

The amount of mobile phones being stolen in the UK is growing and more than half of these crimes are against people under the age of 18. It is important that you know how to stay safe to stop this happening to you!

  • Always keep your phone safe and out of sight
  • Don’t use your phone to talk or text when you're walking alone, it takes your concentration away from your surroundings making you an easy target to muggers
  • If you're out and about turn your phone onto silent or vibrate so you don’t draw attention to yourself
  • Only give your mobile number to friends and family
  • Use a pincode to lock your phone
  • Security mark your phone with your postcode and house number this makes it easier for the police to identify stolen phones. The best place for this is underneath the battery near to the SIM card
  • Always make sure your phone is fully charged and with some credit in case you need to use it in an emergency. 999 calls are free and can be made from most phones even if you have no credit

If your phone is stolen call Immobilise on 08701 123123. This will immediately block your SIM card from being used by anyone else. Follow the links below to find out more ways of protecting yourself against mobile phone crime.
