Socialising

When you are out and about socialising with friends try to remember the following points to make sure that you can enjoy a fun and safe day or night out. This will also help your parents or guardians feel more relaxed to know you are acting responsibly and safely.

  • It’s a good idea to try and introduce your parents or guardians to your friends so that they know who you are with when you go out
  • Always let someone know where you are going and what time you expect to arrive and return home
  • Arrange to meet your friend/s in a busy public place
  • If you can text your parents or guardians to let them know you’ve arrived safely
  • Keep together with your friends, try not to get separated
  • Don’t get pressurised into doing things you don’t want to do
  • Avoid confrontation with others
  • Keep your personal belongings out of sight especially your money and your mobile phone
  • If you are drinking alcohol make sure you know the limits and don't drink too much, be aware of your surroundings and don’t leave your drink unattended
  • Make sure you have enough money and credit on your phone in case of emergencies
