Buckinghamshire Pathfinder
In response to the Department of Communities and Local Government White Paper, "Strong and Prosperous Communities", the 5 councils in Buckinghamshire have a agreed a joint vision for an integrated Buckinghamshire, where the county and district councils see themselves as part of a coherent countywide public service provision, while retaining their local democratic strength and decision-making.
At the same time, efficiencies would be achieved through an integrated approach to the design and delivery of services and the development of a "pioneering pathfinder model for enhanced two-tier working."
A proposal for Pathfinder Status was submitted to the Department of Communities and Local Government in January 2007.
Work began straight away to establish the framework to deliver the Pathfinder Agreement and a programme of work is now being delivered, which is being managed by a new Joint Committee, called the Buckinghamshire Joint Improvement Board.
In July the government awarded us Pathfinder status.
The documents below provide information on the agreement and our progress.
