Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Economic Development - Michael Edmonds

Their role is to develop, propose and implement policy. The cabinet meets every month on Tuesdays at 6.15pm. The meetings are open to the public and the council welcomes people attending to hear the debate and discussion.
The Leader of the Council chairs meetings of the Cabinet and co-ordinates its activities. Each of the nine cabinet members has a specific area of responsibility broadly based on our services. (To view the Scheme of Delegations to the Leader and individual Cabinet Members use the link below to the Council's Constitution and download Section B3).
Major Projects Cabinet Committee
The Cabinet also has a Sub-Committee, the Major Projects Cabinet Committee, the membership of which comprises John Cartwright, Michael Edmonds and Neil Blake. The Committee has the provision to invite other Members to attend its meetings, as may be considered appropriate (the informal proportionality rules do not apply to this Committee).
The Cabinet Forward Plan and Notice of Intention to Hold a Meeting or Part of a Meeting in Private
The Cabinet's Forward Plan identifies key decisions that are going to be made on behalf of the council and who will be making those decisions. Part of this document is the Notice of Intention to Hold a Meeting or Part of a Meeting in Private which gives reasons why it is intended to exclude the public from a meeting or part of a meeting.
Notice of a key decision being dealt with as an exception
This sets out details of key decisions which are to be taken by a decision making body which it has not been practical to publish in advance in accordance with current regulations.
