If you want to meet a cabinet member to discuss an issue for which they are responsible you should call the cabinet support officer on 01296 585712.

Can I speak at meetings?
You can speak at Cabinet or Scrutiny Committee meetings. Whatever you say must be relevant to an item on the agenda for that particular meeting. An agenda for the meeting is usually issued two weeks before the meeting and a copy can be viewed on the Agendas and Minutes section which can be found by using the link below. You can also get a copy by contacting Democratic Services.
Statements will not be allowed in certain circumstances such as if they are defamatory, frivolous, offensive or of a confidential nature.
How can I arrange to speak?
If you want to speak at a meeting you must let Democratic Services know of your intention by calling them no later than 12 noon on the working day before the meeting. When you call us you need to give brief details of the nature of your statement so that we can make sure it’s relevant to the meeting.
How long can I speak?
You have a maximum of two and a half minutes to make your statement. The overall time for statements is at the discretion of the Leader or Chairman who may vary the process to ensure the meeting runs smoothly.
How will my comments be considered?
Your comments will be taken into account during the debate on the matter you have spoken about. The minutes of the meeting will be available on the Agendas and Minutes section.

Speaking at the Licensing Committee
Applicants for a licence, their representatives, objectors or supporters must give advance notice in writing before the meeting. The first named person on a petition may also speak.
