Terms of reference of this committee
Outcomes:
- A reduction in the factors that diminish the health of individuals, and an increase in those that promote it.
- An ongoing reduction in the fear and level of crime.*
- Communities in which all the individuals feel able to play a part.
- Ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to live in a decent and safe home. *
* Focus for investment and improvement in the medium term work programme.
In doing this the committee will undertake the overview and scrutiny function in relation to:
- the policies and strategies of AVDC and other bodies which affect the community within Aylesbury Vale
- assisting the cabinet in the development of the Community Safety Strategy
- our leisure functions in relation to the arts, sports and recreational activities, children's play schemes and holiday activities
- the provision and management of the Civic Centre, swimming pools and other similar facilities
- the implementation of policy framework plans as they relate to the remit of this committee; Community Strategy, Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy, Food Law Enforcement Service Plan, Equality Strategy and Cultural Strategy, the plans and strategies which comprise the Housing Investment Programme and Housing Allocations and Transfer Policy
- the provision of general grants
- electoral issues
- our ICS Strategy
- our functions as local housing authority under the Housing Act and all other relevant legislation in force from time to time
- homelessness and re-housing
- the development of partnerships with external organisations to meet housing need and regenerate unsatisfactory housing, including developers and housing associations
- the provision of housing within the Vale
- the improvement of private sector housing
- relationships with the Housing Corporation
- grants and loans to owner occupiers, tenants, landlords and/or developers
- special needs and affordable housing
- the provision of concessionary travel.
