Terms of reference of this committee
In contributing towards our aim to develop and promote the local economy and establish Aylesbury Vale as a vibrant economic centre this committee will seek the following outcomes:
- A skills base which matches the needs of existing and future businesses.
- An increased profile of the district as a place to visit.
- Encouraging infrastructure that supports the local economy.*
- Positively attracting business to the district.*
- Retention and expansion of the local business community.*
* Focus for investment and improvement in the medium term work programme.
In doing this the Committee will undertake the overview and scrutiny function in relation to:
- policies and strategies of the Council and other bodies which affect the economic development of Aylesbury Vale;
- assisting in the development of the Council's Community Plan to promote, in particular, the economic well-being of Aylesbury Vale;
- the provision, planning and management of the council's car parking, markets and contracts management;
- town centre development and promotion;
- the council's leisure function in relation to tourism;
- the implementation of policy framework plans as they relate to the remit of this Committee; Economic Development Action Plan, Aylesbury Town Centre Strategy and Action Plan and Parking Strategy for Aylesbury Town Centre;
- assisting the cabinet in the development of a Council-wide property and asset strategy;
- the management of commercial estates, property and asset acquisition and disposal and capital programme;
- reviewing and reporting to the cabinet on the authority's performance against the best value performance plan as it relates to the remit of this committee.
