This page will tell you about voting by post or appointing a proxy to vote for you.
By Post
You can vote by post rather than attending a polling station. To request a postal vote form please contact us or download an application form by clicking on the link below. Please fill it out and return it to the address on the form.
The deadline for applying to vote by post is 11 working days before an election. Postal vote packs are usually posted to voters 10 days before Election Day. This should be borne in mind if you will be away from your home address at this time.
By Proxy
You can apply for someone to vote for you. This person is called a "proxy". You will have to give a reason why you cannot vote in person, such as disability or employment and your application may need to be supported by your doctor or employer.
The deadline for applying to vote by proxy is normally 6 working days before an election. Should your appointed proxy wish to vote by post they can apply for a postal vote up to 11 days before election day. If you require more information about appointing a proxy please contact us.
Emergency Proxy
If you have a medical emergency 6 days before election day or after, you can apply to vote by emergency proxy if you cannot go to the polling station in person. If you require more information about voting by emergency proxy please contact us.
