Parish and Town Council Matters
The Standards Committee is responsible under Section 55 of the Local Government Act 2000 for promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct by Parish Councillors in Aylesbury Vale District and in assisting them to observe their Council's code of conduct. This includes advising Parish Councils on the adoption or revision of a code of conduct, monitoring the operation of the code of conduct and advising/training councillors on matters relating to their code of conduct.
The government have issued a model code of conduct for Parish and Town Councillors (see download below). Standards for England have also produced a useful Guide to the Code for Councillors (see download below).
Complaints that parish or town councillors may have failed to comply with their Council's code of conduct should be made in writing to the Standard Committee (see complaints procedure download below).
Advice for Parish Councils/Councillors
