The Council's performance is assessed by the Audit Commission. They carry out annual assessments of our economy, efficiency and effectiveness under the ‘use of resources’ assessment.
In addition, the Audit Commission occasionally conducts inspections of specific service areas

The Audit Commission also publish an Annual Audit and Inspection Letter. This letter provides an overall summary of their assessment of the Council. It draws on audit and inspection work carried out during the year and uses an analysis of the Council's performance and improvement over the last year. It comments on improvements made in the services provided and on the way the Council manages its resources. These letters can be downloaded below.
