AVDC information on climate change

We recognise that every person, business and organisation must commit to tackling climate change, as such we have put in place and are producing, through consultation, some key strategies and policies that specifically deal with reducing our impact on the environment.

Alongside this we are working with our partners to tackle climate change in 9 key areas which are monitored by UK national indicators:

  • NI 185  - CO2 reduction from local authority operations
  • NI 186  - Per capita reduction in CO2 emissions in the local authority area
  • NI 187  - Tackling fuel poverty, percentage of people receiving income based benefits living in homes with a low and high energy efficiency rating
  • NI 188  - Planning to adapt to climate change
  • NI 189  - Flood and coastal erosion risk management
  • NI 191  - Residual household waste per household
  • NI 192  - Percentage of household waste sent for reuse, recycling and composting
  • NI 193  - Percentage of municipal waste landfilled
  • NI 194  - Air quality - percentage reduction in NOx and primary PM10 emissions through local authority's estate and operation
