Special interest days at Waddesdon Manor - Colours of another age
In 1907 the Lumiere brothers invented the first commercially viable means of photographing in colour; and it took the world by storm. The Autochrome, which relied on the humble potato in its creation, allows us glimpses of the Edwardian world in vibrant colour, thanks to the work of amateur photographer Lionel de Rothschild, and a further series recording the Manor itself around 1910. This day, linking to exhibition in the Coach House, is led by Victor Gray, exhibition curator, and former director of the Rothschild Archive.
