Child benefit no longer counts in benefits calculation
Your child benefit will no longer be counted as income due to changes in housing and council tax benefit rules. From 2 November 2009 you may be entitled to some extra money towards your rent and council tax payments.
Who is affected?
- if you are not already receiving housing and/or council tax benefit or you have been turned down in the past and
- have a child or children living with you and
- receive child benefit for them and
- you pay rent and/or council tax
