Housing strategy and affordable housing development
Even though we no longer have our own housing stock it is still important to us that we continue to plan for and enable the delivery of new affordable housing in the Aylesbury Vale area.
Affordable housing, which is usually social rented or shared ownership, is aimed at people on low incomes who are finding it difficult to access housing on the open market.
House prices and private sector rents in Aylesbury Vale, like the rest of the South East, are often beyond the reach of those on low or even average incomes. Demand for affordable housing in Aylesbury Vale currently exceeds provision, as indicated by sources such as our Housing Register and Bucks Strategic Housing Market Assessment. However we are also working with our neighbouring councils, such as Milton Keynes, to achieve the Government's vision for significant housing and economic growth in this area.
The Strategic Housing Team works with partners such as housing associations and the Housing Corporation to enable affordable housing to be built in the district. We also research and prepare housing strategies in consultation with our partners and the community to ensure that current and future affordable housing in the district meets local housing needs.
Below you will find copies of our most recent housing strategies. If you would like more information on the Bucks Strategic Housing Market Assessment, which is a study of current and long term trends in the Bucks Housing market, please follow the link below.
