What is 'Housing Options'?

The Housing Options team can give information on the following:

  • Maintaining the Housing Register (Bucks Home Choice)
  • Nominating successful applicants on the Bucks Home Choice register to Housing Association properties
  • Advice on renting privately
  • Private Rent Scheme
  • Low cost home ownership

How can the Housing Options team help?

The Housing Options team manage Bucks Home Choice applications made to Aylesbury Vale District Council. They ensure that all applications are registered and all required supporting information is provided. The Housing Options Officer can advise on various aspects of your application. For more information on Bucks Home Choice please see the link below.

The Housing Options team also acts as a first point of contact for applicants approaching the Council for help with homelessness. They will carry out a housing needs assessment of the applicant to establish the circumstances and the most appropriate course of action. Depending on circumstances, this could involve referring applicants to a Housing Advisor or to the Private Rent Scheme. The Housing Options team can also offer advice on Housing Associations, low cost home ownership, local hostels and bed and breakfast accommodation. For more information on low cost home ownership please follow the HomeBuy link below.

What is the Private Rent Scheme?

The private rent scheme aims to put people looking for privately rented accommodation in touch with private landlords. The scheme is for people in housing need and on low incomes (claiming benefit). Tenants are referred to the scheme by Housing Options officers and Housing advisors. For more information call 01296 585168 or 01296 585197.

The aim of the National Private Tenants Organisation (NPTO) is to work for professionally managed, secure, decent and affordable private rented homes in sustainable communities. Membership is open to private tenant groups and individual private tenants who do not have a group serving their area. We also have associate membership for organisations which would like to support our work e.g. local authorities.
