Supporting People is a national government grant programme that provides housing-related support services to help vulnerable people live independently. These services can be provided in your own home or in specialist accommodation such as hostels, refuges or sheltered housing.
The type of support includes help with:
- making benefit claims
- essential life skills such as shopping and cooking
- accessing social activities, training and education
You can get help if you:
- have a disability
- are classed as a vulnerable young person
- are homeless or sleep rough
- are older and need support
- have mental health problems
- are at risk of offending
- have drug or alcohol problems
- need to escape domestic violence
- have HIV or AIDS
- are a teenage parent
- are a refugee
