Aylesbury Vale covers over 300 miles of rolling North Buckinghamshire countryside, with busy market towns, enchanting villages and magnificent county houses. So you will have plenty to see and explore.
Our website offers a wealth of information that you may find helpful, both now and in the long term. As there is so much information on our site, we have gathered here some useful links that may be particularly helpful to you as a new resident in your first few weeks.
Services we provide
We provide many of your local services, but others are provide by the county council and your local town or parish council. The services can be found under the A-Z tab on our homepage.
Refuse and recycling collection
Most households are supplied with:
- 1 wheeled bin for refuse (collected weekly)
- 1 recycling basket for plastics and cans (collect fortnightly)
- 1 recycling basket for paper (collected fortnightly)
- 1 recycling box, with lid, for glass (collected every four weeks).
If you are in the Buckingham or Winslow area you will also have a brown bin for garden waste which is collected on alternate weeks from your green wheeled bin.

Text alerts
We offer a free text alert system to your mobile phone, offering you reminders of when to put your bins out when there are changes to your normal collections.
You can also get information on a wide range of services. You are free to choose which topics you would like to receive information about and we promise not to use your number for any other purpose.
Council Tax
AVDC receives £2.52 a week from the average Band D property. We charge one of the lowest rates of council tax, set by a district council, in the country.
The remainder of your council tax is shared between:
- Bucks County Council
- Bucks Fire and Rescue
- Thames Valley Police
- Your town or parish council.

Register to vote
If you’ve just moved house you need to register to vote again, even if you have moved within the Vale. You’ll need to print the form and sign it and then send it back to us. Go to our election and voting pages, which include the registration and application for a postal vote forms.
