Transport Hub

Artwork Designs
AVDC is collaborating with Bucks CC in the regeneration of the Aylesbury Transport Hub by commissioning artists to work alongside architects to integrate public art into the scheme.
As a result of Arts Council of England Art Plus development award made to AVDC in 2007, local artist Laura Boswell is to create an artwork capturing the rural landscape of Aylesbury Vale as part of the Aylesbury Public Transport Hub development being implemented by Buckinghamshire County Council.
The artwork will be fired into the enamel cladding coating both sides of Great Western Street to form street length landscapes on both sides of the road.

Firing of the panels
'The work began with observational drawings taken from around the Vale' explained Laura 'From these I took field shapes and land forms and reassembled them to create two massive landscapes, rather like a patchwork quilt, to both conjure a feeling for the Vale and to suit Great Western Street. I have designed the landscapes to move through the seasons along the length of the street and I hope people will enjoy seeing various parts of the Vale in their new context'.
Laura will be working on site at the factory this summer to transform her designs into enamel by hand, making this the biggest enamel artwork of its kind in Britain. The finished product should be in place before Christmas of this year as the final part of the bus station refurbishment.
Vale Park Development
A second phase of public art is also underway in the development of the Vale Park in Aylesbury. Lead artist Steve Geliot will be working alongside local artists Laura Boswell, Stu McLellan and Pippa North, to develop ideas for integrating art into the design, landscaping and furniture of the park.
