Urban Beatz

Urban Beatz is a hip hop dance experience aimed primarily at young people aged between 12 and 19 who live in Bucks and would not ordinarily have the opportunity to participate in dance activity.

The project began in autumn 2006 with the training of volunteer mentors to work alongside 9 groups from across Bucks, including Haddenham Youth Centre, Wendover School and the Youth Offending Team in Buckingham.

The project is being led by international street dancer and teacher Banxy, who is renowned in the industry for combining his potent dance moves with urban cool. Banxy, and a team of teachers and mentors, worked with the selected groups to create individual performance pieces, which they performed in May 2007 at the Wycombe Swan Breakin' Conventions dance platform.

Urban Beatz has been co-ordinated by AVDC, Thames Valley Partnership, Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School, South Bucks District Council, Wycombe District Council, Wycombe Swan and Arts Council England.
