Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust

The Trust aims to secure a better future for wildlife and, in doing so, manages over 90 nature reserves as safe havens for rare and endangered species. It works to educate and encourage all sectors of the community to care for our natural heritage.

The Trust is a registered charity and depends on the support of local people. You can help by becoming a member.

British Waterways

British Waterways manages, preserves and enhances over 2,000 miles of canals and rivers throughout the UK. The Aylesbury and Wendover Arms of the Grand Union Canal reflect our industrial past but nowadays provide an important haven for wildlife.

Bucks County Council Countryside Services

Bucks Countryside Services conserve and enhance the county’s wildlife and natural beauty, promote public enjoyment of the countryside and increase access to it. Within Countryside Services, the Strategic Initiatives team has primary responsibility for nature conservation and biodiversity issues.

The Environment Agency is the environmental regulator for England and Wales. It is responsible for a range of work including conserving and improving the quality of rivers, estuaries and coastal waters and action to conserve water resources and the water environment.

Forest Enterprise

Woodlands are owned by the Forestry Commission. They are managed by Forest Enterprise, a Commission agency, which seeks to balance woodland use between recreation, conservation and timber production. Woodlands are constantly monitored to safeguard wildlife and habitats.

Recreation facilities include play areas, cycle trails, waymarked routes and orienteering courses.

Greensand Trust

The Trust is an independent environmental charity working with local communities and landowners to conserve and promote the distinctive landscape, wildlife and history of the Greensand Ridge. It aims to improve access, understanding and enjoyment of the area.

The Trust partners with local councils, national agencies, the business and voluntary sectors.
