Roald Dahl Festival 2014

Roald Dahl Festival 2014

An annual community event that brings together over 1,000 school children and an audience of approximately 5,000 to celebrate the imagination and work of Roald Dahl, author of our times.

Roald Dahl Festival 2014

Celebrating the internationally renowned author for the 12th year, the unique Roald Dahl Festival commemorated on 5 July in Aylesbury Town Centre, the 50th anniversary of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Larger than life puppets and colourful artwork made by children and young people in the local area paraded through the streets of Aylesbury, starting at St Mary’s Church, accompanied by boisterous samba and brass bands and amazing street entertainers.

The spectacular parade featured approximately 600 young people with family and friends plus an audience of over 5000 people. Activities continued through-out the day in Kingsbury with hands on arts activities by AVDC Play Service and the Queens Park Arts Centre. Plus activities and fun things to do at the Buckinghamshire Museum, Aylesbury Library, St Mary’s Church and Aylesbury Railway Station.

The festival was organised by AVDC with partners and supported by Chiltern Railways, Pelican Print and Mix 96.
