Cultural Olympiad Projects
The London 2012 Cultural Olympiad was the largest cultural celebration in the history of the modern Olympic and Paralympic Movements. From 2008 to 2012, the Cultural Olympiad featured projects inspired by London 2012. There were six Cultural Olympiad projects in Buckinghamshire including the Driving Inspiration initiative.
Driving Inspiration was a Creative Bucks project telling the stories of the Paralympic Games and Paralympians through dance, theatre, visual arts, creative writing, music and film. It was about inspiring young disabled and non-disabled people to identify and fulfil their own dreams, and to celebrate diversity. Driving Inspiration achieved the London 2012 Inspire Mark, that recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.
A number of schools across Buckinghamshire took part, including Mandeville School and Buckingham Junior School.
