The theatre will be built with sustainability in mind.

Geothermal technology will be used to heat and cool the building with ground source heat pumps using piling some 20 metres deep.

Timber will be Forest Stewardship Council or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification certified and European sourced.

All insulation for the building fabric and pipe and ductwork will have an Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) of zero and Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than 5.

The Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) content of internal finishes will be assessed and minimised for paints and varnishes.

Water metering with pulsed output to the Building Management System (BMS) will enable monitoring and minimisation of water use.

The building will cause limited additional load to the drainage system.

All appliances, taps, showers, toilets will be low water usage specification.

Rainwater will be stored and used for toilet flushing which will reduce water usage and drainage load.
