Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre
Permission has been granted for the redevelopment of Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre. The project managed by AVDC working in partnership with the Aylesbury Vale Community Trust, will greatly enhance the 10 year-old leisure centre and provide top-class facilities for customers.
Under the scheme:
• A new retractable roof will cover the current outdoor pool to offer both indoor and outdoor use dependent on weather conditions
• The café will be relocated to the front of the building to enable park users to access the facility
• New ‘dry side’ changing rooms and additional ‘wet side’ changing facilities will be created
• The reception area and fitness suite will be extended to about double their current size
• A new multi-functional room, which can be used for community hire, will be created
• The car park will be altered, within its existing footprint, to provide 40 additional parking
spaces, increasing the number to 140 overall
Work commenced on site on 12th September 2011 by preparing the site for further additional works. Customers are advised that the project is being conducted in a live environment and it is the intention to preserve as many of the services for as long as possible, but there will be times when services will need to close to the public enabling construction work to commence safely.
Users of the centre should maintain regular contact with leisure centres web site ( please see link below) and/or information boards at the centre, so to keep informed of any closures or potential disruption to service. This will prevent any unnecessary journeys to the centre and inconvenience.
For up to date information on the project please follow the link at the bottom of the page.
Existing facilities
The £9.8 million Lottery-supported Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre opened on the 15th September 2001. This state-of-the-art facility offers excellent value for money and is open to the public at user-friendly times both during the week and at weekends. Three swimming pools are on offer, giving the opportunity to choose between the eight lane 25 metre competition pool complete with movable floor, the indoor leisure water with its lazy river and interactive flume or the outdoor heated pool - available all year round. If you prefer leisure experiences on dry land there is also a high-tech gym, dance studio, sauna, and cafe.
