Youth development

We lead a number of projects that aim to give young people opportunities to make positive contributions to their local communities.

These projects are delivered in partnership with a number of local organisations which enables us to share resources, avoid duplication and achieve better outcomes for children and young people.

Aylesbury Vale Young People's Improvement Plan

In order to promote, monitor and evaluate this partnership work we have developed the Aylesbury Vale Young People’s Improvement Plan. The action plan is a multi agency document that shows the diverse, positive work that is being delivered across the district. The Improvement Plan follows the five Every Child Matters Outcomes which are:

  1. Be Healthy
  2. Stay Safe
  3. Enjoy & Achieve
  4. Make a Positive Contribution
  5. Achieve Economic Wellbeing

The Vision

The work of the partners on the Aylesbury Vale Young People's Improvement Plan is underpinned by the vision; providing better outcomes for young people by working in partnership.  We have produced a document out lining how we will achieve this with our key goals and objectives.  This document is available to download at the bottom of the page.

Community Development Team Action Plan

The wider Community Development team work on a number of projects for young people across Aylesbury Vale.  These projects include term time classes, holiday activities, large scale arts festivals, sports projects and rural touring projects.  Information about the work being undertaken in 2011/12 can be found in the download at the bottom of the page.

IDeA Review

In order to evaluate the services we provide for children and young people we invited the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) to carry our a peer review of our services. The IDeA put forward some recommendations for future improvement to the way we work but overall they were extremely impressed with the work we carry out and stated that we were at the “cutting edge nationally” of district councils working with children and young people. The full findings of the peer review can be found at the bottom of this page.
