Residents with access to the internet can now use Aylesbury Vale District Council’s website to view council tax and business rates bills online.

The idea is that residents may prefer to receive their bills online rather than get them through the post. People can check their bill and make a payment at the same session.

Online bills can help residents manage their account better because they will be able to gain quick access to their bill, any time day or night, without having to wait until they receive it through the post. The system will also provide a history of all subsequent bills, avoiding the need for residents to keep a paper record to see or compare what has happened from one year to the next.

Councillor Margaret Morgan-Owen, Cabinet Member for Resources, said that the new service would benefit the council as well as local residents and businesses. She said: “No-one enjoys paying bills, but it’s important we make it as easy as possible for residents and local businesses to sort out payments for things like council tax and business rates.

“Sending out business rates and council tax bills is an expensive and time consuming exercise. Residents who choose to view their bills online will help us save time and money in the future.”

Residents who wish to receive their bills online will need to register for the service by following the link from the home page on the council's website or by sending an email to counciltax@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk

Business rate customers should email businessrates@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk

You will need to tell the council your name and council tax or business rates account number and when the next bill is produced a password, which you can change, will be given to you. Armed with this and your account number, you will be able to log on to the council’s website and view your bills at any time.
