Sections of a play house, the sort that are often provided in pub gardens, were dumped at the Quainton Railway Centre car park in Quainton Road last week during the night of Monday, 19 June.

The council is keen to find out who is responsible and bring them to book. Litter enforcement officer, George Duguid, took this picture to see if anyone could remember where they had last seen the play house.

“I hope the picture will jog someone’s memory. If anyone recognises where they saw this play house we may be able to trace the person responsible for dumping it,” said George. If you have any information that would help please telephone 01296 585395.

Aylesbury Vale District Council has made a concerted effort to crack down on fly tipping over the last year to keep the district clean and safe for residents to enjoy. New legislation puts the onus on householders and businesses to check that anyone who removes waste from their property is authorised to do so. The government hopes that this will mean less rubbish will be dumped and council tax payers will not have to pay to clean it up.

If you employ someone to remove rubbish for you, ask them for their waste carrier number. It is worth it because if waste is dumped illegally and traced back to you, you could be fined up to £5,000. You can find out if a company is registered with the Environment Agency by looking on their website www2.environment-agency.gov.uk/epr/search.asp or you can call 08708 506 506 and ask for a waste carrier check.

“Fly tipping is illegal and unpleasant,” said Michael Edmonds, Cabinet Member for Housing, Environment and Health. “We are grateful to members of the public who help us by reporting any incidents that they see, and now that the rules have changed I would urge people to makes sure that any contractors they use are properly registered.”
