Richard Carr, AVDC’s Chief Executive for over the last five years, is to be appointed Chief Executive of Wolverhampton City Council. The promotion to a metropolitan authority will see Richard managing a staff over 13,000 employees serving a population of a quarter of a million people.

Commenting on his appointment Richard said, “Although I am very excited about the challenges and opportunities of working with a large metropolitan authority, I shall be very sad to leave Aylesbury Vale.

“I have enjoyed my time with the District Council enormously and would like to acknowledge the help and support I have received from Members and colleagues across the authority in my time here.

“I feel very confident about both the Council’s and the District’s future.  Obviously, the growth agenda especially presents a particular challenge, but it also brings with it opportunities.  Schemes like Waterside are but one example of how the Council is seeking to enhance these opportunities for the benefit of the local community, which I feel proud to have been involved with.

“My departure date has still to be negotiated and I am sure the Council will want to put in place some interim arrangements before my successor is appointed.”

John Cartwright, Leader of the Council, added, “In the five years that Richard has been with us, he has achieved a great deal and our loss is Wolverhampton’s gain. We wish him every success in his new job”.
