Budding entrepreneurs and those who have just started a business are being urged to attend special business events aimed at providing ideas for support and growth.
The free events, organised by Bucks Enterprise, offer new businesses easy access to training, guidance and networking opportunities.
Bucks Enterprise offers free advice to start-up organisations within Buckinghamshire, as well as existing businesses less than 18 months old. The project is managed by the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Group and receives funding from several organisations including AVDC and Buckinghamshire County Council.
Businesses can find out how Bucks Enterprise can help them develop by attending one of the free ‘Meet Bucks Enterprise’ events – an ideal opportunity to discuss the type of help and advice that the agency can provide. The next events taking place in and around Aylesbury Vale are on 4 January at Missenden Abbey and on 1 February at the Holiday Inn, Aston Clinton.
Bucks Enterprise is also running free taster days which provide comprehensive training on a variety of issues including sales and marketing, finance and human resources. These sessions will be held at Missenden Abbey on 25 January and 29 March, with more events programmed throughout 2007. More intensive training days will be held in the Vale during February and April – further details are available on the Bucks Enterprise website.
In addition, there will be brand new quarterly ‘A2B exhibitions’ starting in January, where people will have the chance to source a wealth of advice about starting and running an enterprise. The first event is in High Wycombe on 11 January 2007, but the event will be repeated in both April and October at the Holiday Inn, Aston Clinton.
Local business people are also being encouraged to attend free one-to-one counselling sessions offered by Bucks Enterprise. Trained business support advisors are available to help businesses develop a business plan or marketing strategy, offer guidance on how to improve struggling businesses and provide advice to maximise business potential.
Councillor Peter Cooper, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: “We are very happy that Bucks Enterprise is focusing much of its exciting programme of events for 2007 on Aylesbury Vale and would really like to encourage both business start-ups and early-stage small businesses to attend these events and take up the one-to-one advice available from Bucks Enterprise.”
Matt Harris, Project Manager for Bucks Enterprise, said: “Bucks Enterprise sees Aylesbury Vale as a major growth area for business. We intend playing a full role in helping businesses get started in the district, and helping them get through those tough first 18 months of trading.”
Support for local businesses is also available from the council’s economic development team, including small business grants, help with property enquiries and a welcome pack for relocating or start-up businesses.
