Residents will be able to make known their concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour in their neighbourhoods at a consultation road show visiting areas across Aylesbury Vale later this month.

Organised by local Neighbourhood Action Groups, in partnership with Aylesbury Vale District Council, Buckinghamshire County Council and Thames Valley Police, the road show gives people living and working in the district the opportunity to meet Neighbourhood Action Group members, local beat officers, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and council staff.

Local residents and businesses will be asked what the biggest problems are in their area, along with what they expect from local councils and the police authority.

As well as listening to what local people and businesses have to say, the police authority and its partner agencies will be providing crime prevention advice and fire safety tips.

Sound Studio will be present at Southcourt and Bedgrove to give young people the chance to try their hand at DJing. Youngsters will also have the opportunity to test their climbing skills on a mobile climbing wall when the road show visits Kingsbury in Aylesbury town centre.

Anne Jones, Neighbourhood Inspector for Aylesbury town, said: “Last year we ran a series of public meetings to find out what the main issues of concern were for local people. Over the past year local Neighbourhood Action Groups have been working on the issues raised. This year we are going out to meet people on the streets to give them another opportunity to let us know what needs to be addressed where they live. We would ask people to make the most of this opportunity and visit their local road show to speak with the Neighbourhood Action Group members, volunteers, council officers and police representatives.”

Councillor Pam Pearce, AVDC Cabinet Member for Community Matters, said: “We want to hear what local people have to say about the issues that most affect them in their neighbourhoods and what they would like the police and district council to do to improve their quality of life. This information will then be used to help us tackle the major issues in local communities.”

Margaret Dewar, Cabinet Member for Community Services at Bucks County Council, said: “We are looking forward to speaking to lots of people at these events and hope that they will take up this excellent opportunity to have their say and let us know what we can do to help them improve life in their community.”

Trevor Hooper, Police Community Support Officer for the Elmhurst neighbourhood, said: “I’m really looking forward to taking part in this event.  There will be plenty for people to see and do.  We will provide crime prevention advice and the fire service will also be there with their exhibition vehicle.  Not only will we be speaking to people at the road show locations, we will be walking around the estates and talking to people on the streets as well.  We want to give as many people as possible their chance to have their say.”

The dates and venues for the consultation road shows are as follows:
