AVDC is once again inviting applications for funding from local community and voluntary groups working in Aylesbury Vale.

In general, the council’s Project Grant Scheme can support organisations with grants of up to £5,000, although some larger capital funding is available.

To be eligible to apply, groups must be formally constituted, not-for-profit and operate within the Aylesbury Vale district, for the benefit of either residents or visitors to the area.

Each year, the council provides around £120,000 to voluntary organisations, clubs, societies and parish councils. Grants are given for a wide range of purposes including; improving the range or quality of service provision or facilities; training and development of staff, volunteers and organisations; promotion of events and festivals; and capital projects.

Schemes to win financial backing under a recent round of allocations include:
• Ashendon Playing Fields Community Pavilion - £15,000 to aid the building of their new multi-purpose pavilion
• Stewkley Parish Council - £6,000 towards the purchase of fields to develop into a community nature reserve to protect and enhance the high biodiversity interest in the area
• Northall Village Hall - £5,000 towards creating new play and recreational facilities for children
• Stoke Mandeville Parish Council – More than £1,500 towards the cost of replacing play equipment in the Eskdale Road children’s playground

Councillor Pam Pearce, Cabinet Member for Community Matters, said: “These grants can make a big difference to organisations working in the community. They allow local groups and clubs to achieve things that might otherwise have taken a lot of fundraising. Previously local groups and clubs have used grants awards for things like buying equipment and improving facilities.”

The next deadline for applications is 20 October and recommendations on who will receive a grant and the amount awarded will be made by the Grants Panel on 15 November.

Information about applying for a grant is available on the council’s website www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk under About Aylesbury Vale. Although applications cannot be made online, it will be possible to request forms and make enquiries by calling Anne Vujanic on 01296 585186 or emailing avujanic@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk
