The candidates for the forthcoming district, town and parish council elections in Aylesbury Vale have been announced.
Nominations closed on 4 April at 12 noon for the local elections. A total of 768 candidates have put themselves forward for election to contest the 644 parish and town council and 59 district council seats in the Vale on 3 May.
Each elector in the district has the opportunity to vote for the candidates that they would like to see represent their area at a district, town and parish level.
Stewkley is the only ward that will not be contested at a district level. Overall there are 59 Conservative candidates, 50 Liberal Democrat candidates, 25 UK Independence Party candidates, 22 Labour candidates and six Independent candidates for the district council election.
This year residents will have longer to cast their vote as polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm, as they usually are for parliamentary elections.
The count will be held on 4 May at the Civic Centre in Aylesbury and the results will be declared by the Returning Officer, Andrew Grant, chief executive of Aylesbury Vale District Council.
There is still time to register to vote; the last date for registrations is Wednesday 18 April. This is also the date by which you need to apply for a postal vote if you don’t want to vote at a polling station on 3 May.
