The creation of a multi-million pound business park destined to bring a jobs bonanza to Aylesbury Vale has taken a step closer to becoming reality.

Plans for the ambitious development near Aylesbury, which would create some 2,000 new jobs, were approved in principle at a meeting of Aylesbury Vale District Council’s Strategic Development Control Committee yesterday (19 December).

If the Secretary of State and the council are satisfied with the final plans and the relevant planning agreements are completed, then the business park will be built.

Located on land off the A41 Aston Clinton Road, the park will become the ‘Enterprise Hub’ for Aylesbury, creating around 26,000 square metres of high quality office space.  The development will provide a business facilities centre, as well as a fully-serviced innovation centre where small start-up firms can rent space and infrastructure facilities.

In addition, 125 two and three bedroom houses and up to 25 apartments will be built. The development will also include a new hotel, gym, café/restaurant, convenience store and bank to service the business park and housing areas close to the site.

The 17.6-hectare site is located less than two miles from Aylesbury town centre and enjoys the A41 dual carriageway link to the M25 motorway, making it a prime business location.

The government requires Aylesbury Vale to provide 21,200 new homes by 2026 and AVDC is planning to have at least one new job for every house built in the district. The proposed business park will provide some of the new jobs required for the residents of the new homes due to be built as part of the long term development of the Vale.

Councillor Carole Paternoster, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning at AVDC, said: “The business park will be a huge boost for bringing much-needed jobs into Aylesbury Vale and I am very pleased that we have reached this significant milestone in the development. The park, which will become a key employment site, will offer opportunities for both inward and expanding local businesses to operate in a prime location. It will support new business start-ups, create quality jobs and help attract continued investment to the area.”

Simon Turner, Development Manager at Gladman Developments – the company developing the site – said: “We welcome this important step in the realisation of this much-needed employment development in Aylesbury Vale. We look forward to continuing to work with the district council and other stakeholders to bring forward the development and the associated jobs it will create.”
