Representatives from Aylesbury Vale’s community and voluntary sports clubs are being urged to attend a special seminar this month to find out about the opportunities that are open to local organisations.

The event, organised by Aylesbury Vale District Council and the Bucks & Milton Keynes Sports Partnership, gives sports’ coaches, players, teachers and volunteers the chance to meet up and share their experiences of good practice and common issues and challenges facing local sports clubs.

Clubs will also be updated with the latest information and advice on key topics from experienced sports professionals.

The seminar takes place between 7pm and 10pm on 19 July at the Bell Hotel in Winslow. Refreshments will be provided.

Officers from AVDC and the Bucks & Milton Keynes Sports Partnership will be on hand to offer help and advice on a number of topics, including local and national funding opportunities for sports clubs, recruiting new junior members, marketing your organisation and getting the most out of volunteers.

A member of the London Wasps rugby team which clinched the 2007 Heineken Cup will also be attending the seminar to talk to local clubs and give representatives the chance to have their picture taken with the trophy.

Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure at AVDC, said: “This event will give sports clubs the opportunity to pick up tips and share ideas on developing their organisations. We will be offering help with increasing participation, increasing volunteers and accessing funding as well as enabling groups to share many ideas of good practice. I am certain that any sports clubs that attend will benefit enormously.”

Sports clubs who would like more information about this event, or to book a place, should contact the Bucks & Milton Keynes Sports Partnership on 01296 585215 or email info@buckssport.org
