Aylesbury Vale District Council is offering local residents the chance to enjoy the traditional sounds of brass band music in villages across the district.

The ‘Perfect Village Sunday’ tour, now in its seventh year, will be coming to a village green near you on four consecutive Sundays, starting on 1 July.

The Great Horwood Silver Band will be playing in Preston Bissett, Wingrave, Akeley and Westbury, so why not spend a relaxing and lazy Sunday afternoon listening to one of the best brass bands around. There’ll also be children’s entertainment provided by a Punch and Judy Show or a fabulous magician.

The Perfect Village Sunday initiative is designed to support local communities in hosting traditional village fetes. The council can help parishes organise these events by providing live music and children’s entertainment.   

Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “Why not bring the whole family and help support your local village fete. It will be the perfect opportunity to have a picnic whilst the children play and relax to the traditional sounds of a wonderful brass band.”

The Perfect Village Sunday tour will be visiting the following areas:
• Preston Bissett, cricket field off the main square, 1 July, 2pm – 4.30pm
• Wingrave, village green, 8 July, 1pm – 4pm
• Akeley, village green, 15 July, 2pm – 5pm
• Westbury, pavilion and playing fields, 22 July, 2pm – 5pm

The village fetes at Preston Bissett, Akeley and Westbury will charge an entrance fee whilst admission to the Wingrave event is free.
