Aylesbury Vale District Council’s leisure team is inviting residents to try out the new bowls green at Vale Park in Aylesbury.

The bowls green, which is available for the first time this summer, is a key feature of the park’s new sports zone. This area of the park also has two tennis courts and a multi-sports area suitable for football and basketball.

It costs £3 per adult and £2 for youngsters and pensioners to use the bowls green. A £5 deposit is taken for the use of bowls and equipment. Anyone wishing to take part is reminded to wear flat-soled footwear that prevents damage to the green.

Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “Bowls is great exercise for people, helping to improve flexibility and stamina and it’s becoming increasingly popular with all age groups. If you’re interested in giving it a go then get yourself down to Vale Park and see if it’s the sport for you.”

If you are interested in joining a bowls club there are several across the district to choose from. Local clubs are always on the look out for new members and it’s a good opportunity to get out and meet new people. The playing season runs from May to September and there are competitions open to men, women, and mixed teams.

If you would like to use the Vale Park bowls green, please contact Aqua Vale on 01296 488555. To find out more information about bowling in Aylesbury, please contact Aylesbury Bowls Club on 01296 486723.
