Young people are being asked to share their views with Aylesbury Vale District Council in a Big Brother-style diary room.
The diary room will be visiting venues across the district to give youngsters an opportunity to tell the council about the activities they enjoy in their local area and others they would like to see.
Young people aged 13 to 19 will be asked to talk about which existing facilities and services they use and don’t use and to give their reasons. They will also be asked about issues such as access and costs as well as location.
The diary room views will be recorded on video and shown to staff and councillors to help them plan future services for young people in the district.
The video diary project is just one of the ways AVDC is working to ensure its young people have a say in the decisions that affect them and to increase their involvement in local democracy.
Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure at AVDC, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for young people to give their opinions on the facilities and services which should be provided for them. If we are to improve services and engage with young people, we need to listen to them and make sure they have every opportunity to get involved.”
The diary room’s next stop will be The Church of the Good Shepherd in Southcourt, Aylesbury, on 11 December between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.
