Work on the new public transport hub in Aylesbury town centre means the temporary closure of three council car parks from next Monday (22 October).

Exchange Street will be closed for essential resurfacing works during the weekday evenings as phase two of the transport hub comes to an end.

The roadworks mean that the Civic Centre car park will be closed for three evenings next week. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (22, 23 and 24 October) the car park will be closed in the evening from 7pm until 6.30am the following morning while the northbound carriageway of Exchange Street is resurfaced.

The Exchange Street and Canalside car parks will be closed on Thursday, Friday and the following Monday (25, 26 and 29 October) from 7pm until 6.30am as work is carried out on the southbound carriageway.

Notices warning of the closures are being displayed around the car parks. Motorists are being advised to use the Upper Hundreds car park, which is open for 24 hours, as an alternative.

Councillor Kevin McPartland, Cabinet Member for Civic Amenities, said: “The new public transport hub will see a very positive impact on the town. We hope that people will not be too inconvenienced by the temporary but necessary closure of these car parks.”
