Aylesbury Vale District Council is urging residents to have their say on the latest proposals for future development in and around Bedfordshire.
Planners for the Luton and South Bedfordshire Joint Planning and Transportation Committee are working together to develop a new core strategy planning document to guide the development of the region.
One of the options under consideration is a 75-hectare area to the west of Leighton Linslade. This potential area for development is within Aylesbury Vale and bounded by the Stoke Hammond and Linslade Western Bypass.
The proposed overspill growth into Aylesbury Vale from Leighton Linslade could result in hundreds more homes being added to the district’s housing allocation.
Residents have until the end of September to comment on the development plans for Luton and South Bedfordshire. Copies of the consultation document have been sent to all affected parishes in Aylesbury Vale and a public exhibition roadshow will be visiting Wing on 13 September to give people the opportunity to talk to planning officers from the Joint Planning and Transportation Committee about the proposed options for growth. The exhibition will be at the village hall from 5pm until 8pm.
Councillor Carole Paternoster, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, said: “I’d like to remind anyone who hasn’t yet completed a consultation form that there is still time to do so. We have already identified a number of flaws in the initial proposals and we will be voicing our concerns at the next meeting of the Joint Planning and Transportation Committee. We do not believe they have made the case for growth into Aylesbury Vale. It’s important that residents in the affected villages make their voices heard, in addition to the formal objections made by the district council.”
Feedback from local residents will help the Luton and South Bedfordshire Joint Planning and Transportation Committee develop a preferred core strategy option by next summer.
