Enthusiastic young dancers took to the stage last weekend (Sunday 6 April) for a dance extravaganza in front of a sell-out audience.

From contemporary to street dance, hip-hop to jive, the Activate festival was a showcase of the diversity and quality of youth dance from across Aylesbury Vale.
The show at Aylesbury Civic Centre was organised by Aylesbury Vale District Council’s leisure team, which runs a wide range of regular dance classes for young people throughout the district.
More than 150 young people from 12 local schools, community groups and youth groups ranging in ages from eight to 23 years old took part in the performance.
Buckingham Primary School, Doorways Dance Group, Halton Hoppers and Urban Strides were among those taking part along with performance groups from Wycombe Swan and the Swindon Youth Dance Company.
During the day of the festival, workshops took place to give the youngsters the opportunity to learn new techniques and routines to perform during the evening show.
Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “The Activate festival promotes the physical and social benefits of dance in the local community. I’m delighted so many people attended the show. I hope it inspired them to get involved in a dance class or with a local community dance group.”
