Local artists and organisations who would like a cash injection to pay for an arts project, event or piece of equipment are being invited to apply for grant funding.
Small grants are available through Aylesbury Vale Arts Council (AVAC) to support a diverse range of arts opportunities – from singing to drama, music and art.
Any group or individual based in Aylesbury Vale can apply for funding as long as their project or event is to take place in the district.
A similar scheme is also available to help young artists. Young people between the ages of 12 and 24 are able to apply for funding to help develop their skills through training or the use of specialist equipment.
Councillor David Thompson, AVDC Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “Culture is one of Aylesbury Vale’s real assets and the council is committed to supporting the arts in our district. The support provided by these grants helps to create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to take part in a diverse range of high quality creative activity.”
Last year more than £20,000 was awarded to arts projects in the district. These included choral and orchestral concerts, theatre performances, youth projects, arts festivals and exhibitions.
AVAC provides advice, support and encouragement to any individual or group wanting to run an arts-based project or event within the district. The organisation is supported financially by Aylesbury Vale District Council.
To apply for funding, individuals and groups must fill out a simple form, which should be returned by 1 May. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of June. The next round of grants will be available later in the year, when the deadline will be 1 October.
Forms are available on the AVAC website at www.aylesburyvaleartscouncil.org.uk or by contacting the arts council administrator on 01296 585310 or by email avac@aylesburyvaleartscouncil.org.uk
