This week The King’s Head in Aylesbury plays host to an Art and Business Fair, to kick off a season of partnerships between artists and businesses across the county of Buckinghamshire.
On Thursday 21 February, The King’s Head will be a hive of creative activity as artists demonstrate, exhibit and sell their work, alongside several businesses demonstrating their links with the arts community.
The event has been organised by the Bucks Arts Partnership as part of their ART Works for Business programme, which promotes links between artists and businesses across Buckinghamshire.
Stalls will include creative taster sessions such as willow weaving, pottery and raku; exhibitions of paintings and sculpture; cards and crafts for sale; and information displaying how an artist and business can work together.
The event, which is open between 1.30pm and 4.30pm, is free and open to all, with a focus on inviting members of the business community with an interest in art and creativity to come and see what local artists can offer them.
Councillor David Thompson, AVDC Cabinet Member for Leisure, said, “This is an exciting and innovative way in which to bring together the arts and business, helping each other to succeed in their chosen fields. I’d like to encourage everyone to come along to the Art & Business Fair at The King’s Head and see what’s on offer.”
One local business already involved in the scheme is Friars Square Shopping Centre, who will host an artist residency in the week leading up to Easter. Artist Cally Trench will work with students from Waddesdon School on a cartographic art project, creating an unusual map of the shopping centre, which will be exhibited over the Easter weekend.
Information about this project and all the partnerships are listed on the programme’s website where businesses can make contact with artists directly, and new artists can enrol themselves into the scheme.
